School Board Extends Superintendent’s Contract with more Benefits

The Fayette County School Board met on Thursday, August 3, 2023, and had a lengthy discussion on the director of schools requested contract extension. Director Dr. Versie Hamlett’s request was to extend her contract for 2 years to 2027. She also was asking to have 2.5 vacation days per month instead of one and having 2 sick leave days per month instead of one, and adding dental and vision to her insurance. After a lengthy discussion and a roll call vote, the extension was approved. Pictured is school board attorney Tom Minor addressing the board.
