Hickory Withe School History Exhibit from 1936 – 1968

On Sunday, October 1st, 2023, Hickory Withe Presbyterian Church hosted an open house for the Hickory Withe School History Exhibit at the church’s fellowship hall which was Hickory Withe School from 1936 – 1968. It was a wonderful celebration of Hickory Withe’s history as well as community fellowship for the 75-100 guests in attendance, which included 13 former students. The exhibit includes wall-mounted displays documenting the school history as well as numerous items original to the school such as the crock container used to store water and a student’s tin cup used to drink water drawn from the cistern behind the W.A. Whitworth General Store. Pictured are first row L to R, Bobby Russell, Billy Whitworth, Judith Clements Webb, Jane Hodges Mitchell, Hester Smith, Butch Jones, and Aubrey Hilliard. Second row L to R, Mary Barkley Bell, Mike Russell, Charlie Russell, Nancy Russell Cardamone, and Mark Ward. Not pictured: Chuck Keith.
