Groundbreaking Held for Long Awaited County Animal Shelter
The groundbreaking for the new Fayette County Animal Shelter was held last Saturday, November 4th, on land next to the Bill Kelley Criminal Justice Complex. Fayette County Mayor Skip Taylor stated this has been a long time coming and thanked all residents who began this several years ago by having fundraisers. Court fines and animal tag fees continue to support the shelter. Among those present were Scott Rozanski of Spirit Architecture who designed the plans; Robert Barrett and John Rinehart of the construction manager firm Smith-Doyle; members of the Animal Shelter Committee; Sheriff Bobby Riles; Animal Control Officer Tommy Petrowski; County Commissioners Steve Reeves, Tommy Perkins, Adrian Wiggins, Tim Goodroe, Terrye Canady, Jim Norton; Trustee Charles McNab; and other volunteers. Construction is planned to start Monday, November 6.
