    Bring your helping hands to the Oakland Cemetery Cleanup Day on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 8:00 am. It is located at Hwy 194 and Irwin Street in Oakland. Bring your tools and new flowers so the old flowers can be taken off. For info, call Anne Marie Hall at 901-413-2184. Rain date is April 20th.

    Sow the seeds of caring on Saturday, April 13th at the Fayette Cares Plant Sale 9 am – 2 pm at Oakland Elementary School. Shop from a selection of over 10,000 plants with a variety of flowers, fruits, vegetables, herbs, and more. Fayette County Master Gardeners will be sharing advice and guidance.     Friends of the Library Shop the Shelves Book Sale will be Saturday, April 13, 9:30am-1:30pm. Spring is a great time to clean out your already read books and donate those to the Friends (used in good condition). Come browse and see what has been donated this month. Some great finds awaits. Cash & checks only. The money we earn by selling good used books is turned back into the library and their programs.

The event is a local talent show featuring singers, dancers, a band, and more! Fayette’s Got Talent will be catered by local favorites including Raven & Lily Restaurant, Southern Girls Catering, Sweet Creations & Our Daily Bread, and Main Street Eatery.     Please join Drug Free Fayette and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department on April 27, 2024 at First Baptist Church Somerville’s annual Community Day celebration and participate in the nation’s Prescription Drug Take Back Day from 10a-4p. A prescription take back box will be available for no-questions-asked disposal of any unwanted, unused or expired prescription medications in your house at the Drug Free Fayette tent during community day. Please NO needles or liquid medications. The goal for the DEA’s annual take back day is to encourage the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from occurring in communities.
