Oakland Kroger is Adding 38,250 SF; Will Include a Starbuck’s and Possibly Small Clinic

The Oakland Design Review Commission and Planning Commission met on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. They heard plans to add 38,250 SF to the Oakland Kroger which will include a Starbucks and possibly a small medical clinic inside the store. The front will be remodeled too. They also approved DR Horton, Inc.’s request for final plat approval for Riverwood Estates, Phase 5B subdivision consisting of 29 lots with 13.8 acres.

Love the idea of expanding the store BUT, the gas pumps need to be expanded! It’s a cluster with all the cars trying to get in line for just a few pumps. It takes forever! Please put in more pumps. The parking lot has more than enough room for expansion.
Will there be additional parking space when Kroger expands? Access to Starbucks w/o going into the store? Drive thru?
At Riverwood Estates looks like they’re allowing LESS than 1/2 acre per lot! Estate? Does that include the space for streets?
Kroger is incapable of keeping their shelved stocked now. The produce Dept. needs a great deal of help. Rotten produce. Gnats that will carry you off. And…outdated/expired food throughout. Not enough employees, especially at night. And the price hikes the last few years are ridiculous. AND NOW THEY WANT TO EXPAND! THE CUSTOMERS WILL SUFFER FOR THAT WITH MORE PRICE HIKES.
