New District #3 County Commissioner is Ed Allen

The Fayette County Commission met on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. On the agenda was the replacement of county commission District 3 seat that was vacated by Jim Norton. Mayor Skip Taylor stated 2 letters were received from the Election Commission on applicants for the position. One is Ed Allen and the other is Marlon Hill. He said only the commission can nominate someone and vote on it. They would serve until August, 2026.  Commissioner Terry Legget nominated Ed Allen, who has served as a commissioner before and it was seconded. Taylor asked for other nominations and after a moment, Commissioner Claude Oglesby moved that nominations cease and Allen be elected by acclamation. This was approved unanimously. Mayor Taylor conducted the swearing in and Allen then joined the meeting at the table.
