Fayette County Adult Education recently conducted their graduation ceremony for 2025.  The graduation was held at UT Martin Somerville Center on August 10. The Fayette Literacy Board sponsored the event and provided decorations and refreshments.  A very special thanks goes to our board members for their dedication to the cause of literacy in our county, and for the support they gave to these deserving graduates. Fayette Literacy Board members are President- Edward Cooper, Vice-President-Sylvia Young, Treasurer- Korine Dankowski, Secretary-Laura Griffin, Members: Barbara Wells and Jim Larkin. The executive director is Nancy Johnson.
We are very appreciative of Jim Larkin who photographed the event and created a beautiful video to remember the special day.  Instructors for the Adult Education program are Kristin Chance and Nancy Johnson.  Christi DeTuro is the Data Specialist for Adult Education.
Many family members and visitors attended the ceremony and showed their support for the graduates.  Most people do not realize the difficulty of achieving a high school diploma while holding down a full-time job, taking care of the children and family, and attending classes each week.  These graduates are to be admired and honored for their spirit of dedication in achieving this goal.  This year’s Valedictorian was Amber Caraway, and the Salutatorian was Georgia Bing. They achieved the highest scores on the Exams among this year’s graduates.  The Commencement Address was given by Allison Morrow, a 2024 graduate of Fayette County Adult Education. Allison encouraged the students to continue pursuing their dreams and work toward finding a career that they are passionate about. For the 2024-2025 school year, Fayette County Adult Education had thirty-eight (38) students who achieved their high school diploma.  Of those students, twenty-four chose to participate in the graduation ceremony.
Fayette Literacy is thankful to the members and volunteers who made this graduation another successful celebration.  And special thanks to the family members for supporting the graduates with your attendance and pride.
